At least 26 people including policemen have been killed and several injured in a suicide blast at the Kot Lakhpat vegetable market near Arfa Software Technology Park in Lahore.
According to DIG operations, the attack targeted police deployed outside the market.
Arfa Software Technology Park is the first and only IT Park in Punjab at the moment that houses several offices. Visible cracks can be observed on the Glass panes of the IT park.
The emergency teams have arrived at the scene and are helping the people. The place has been cordoned off and the bomb disposal team has also been called at the location.
According to Malik Ahmed Awan, Spokesperson Punjab government, the anti-encroachment department of the city district was conducting operation against the land mafia at the time of the suicide attack.
Chaudhary Nisar, Interior Minister of Pakistan while talking to the press stated, ““It is not yet confirmed if it is an incident of terrorism or an accidental explosion.” He has postponed his planned presser due to the tragic event.
