Man Utd have a longstanding interest in Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale and the Wales superstar looks back to his best.
The 28-year-old endured an injury-hit 2017 – missing a whopping 39 games last season – and could only make the bench for his Cardiff homecoming in Madrid’s Champions League final win against Juventus in May.
After starting and scoring against Numancia in the Copa del Rey last week, Bale followed that up with another impressive performance against Celta Vigo on Sunday night.
It was Bale’s first league start since September and he made a telling impact at the Balaidos – scoring twice and playing more than an hour for the second consecutive game.
Jose Mourinho revealed last month that he was ‘pretty sure’ his side were going to pay a lot of money for one player in the summer, and Bale is certainly on his radar.
It was an encouraging night for Bale, though, who looks to be returning to something resembling his best as he starts two games in quick succession again and United will have been impressed.
Well, it was yet another dismal show from Pakistan as they surrendered meekly to give New Zealand the series.
