Royal Wedding: Markle’s & Prince Harry

Elton John has performed for guests at newlyweds Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding reception.

The singer was among 600 people invited to Saturday’s marriage ceremony at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle. He sported a bold pair of pink spectacles as he arrived with husband David Furnish.

Kensington Palace says John “performed for the newly married couple in recognition of the close connection he has with Prince Harry and his family.”

The palace did not disclose which songs the musician, who was made a knight in 1998 by Queen Elizabeth II in 1998, chose for the occasion

The ceremony kicks off at midday, but details of the plans were released by Kensington Palace earlier today. Meghan will walk part of the way down the aisle by herself and then be met by Prince Charles halfway.

Then, like Diana and Kate before her, Meghan has chosen not to say that she will “obey” her husband following their marriage.

Meghan and Marry will pledge themselves to each other, saying: “… for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death us do part.” Traditional words like “thee” and “thou” will be replaced with the clearly more modern word “you.”

The Archbishop of Canterbury will then address the 600 guests. He will say: “Will you, the families and friends of Harry and Meghan, support and uphold them in their marriage now and in the years to come?”

The guests will answer: “We will” and then Meghan and Harry will be married.

It can’t be easy, can it, turning up to your ex’s wedding. Imagining what could have been and whatever else. That’s got to be especially true if what could have been is a royal occasion. You becoming a princess. No, that can’t be easy at all.

But that was the hell that Chelsy Davy had to go through today, having previously dated future married-man (and the second most likely royal to be a lizard) Prince Harry.
